Phil Lesh & Friends Present Special Valentines Set At Terrapin
By Scott Bernstein Feb 15, 2015 • 9:00 am PST

You can always count on Phil to come up with interesting setlists when Stanley Jordan is on hand and last night was no exception. The first set included a mix of Grateful Dead classics such as “Cosmic Charlie,” “Bird Song” and “Loose Lucy” with covers of The Beatles’ “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Here Comes The Sun” as well as an instrumental version of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.” The second set was the Valentine’s themed set and featured “Good Lovin’,” “How Sweet It Is,” “Not Fade Away,” “Turn On Your Lovelight” and an instrumental “Amazing Grace.” Terrapin Crossroads regular Alex Koford, who’s usually behind the kit at the venue, handled vocals on both “Good Lovin'” and “Loose Lucy.” Saturday night’s third set focused on songs from the Grateful Dead’s live repertoire with one major exception -Stanley Jordan sang and played on a cover of Sting’s “Fragile” in the middle of “Dark Star.” The ensemble said farewell for the evening with one more Beatles’ cover -“Yesterday.”
Phil Lesh & Friends conclude the run at Terrapin Crossroads tonight. A webcast of Sunday night’s show is available for purchase via the venue’s online store.
