Perpetual Groove continues to conquer the jam scene with its dynamic presence both on and off stage. The group’s breakout album, Sweet Oblivious Antidote has been praised internationally, streamed millions of times, and is widely regarded as one of the most quintessential works in the canon.

Sweet Oblivious Antidote was originally released on January 21, 2003, with what for many years was the core and most recognizable lineup of the band, guitarist Brock Butler, keyboardist Matthew McDonald, bassist Adam Perry and drummer Albert Suttle. To commemorate its impending milestone, Perpetual Groove today digitally released a remixed and remastered 20th-anniversary edition of Sweet Oblivious Antidote. Sonically superior to the original, the improved album will also be pressed to vinyl for the first time.

Throughout the album, and especially with the reissue, the band remains firmly entrenched in their deep roots, but also waters their own tree to sprout new leaves and flowers that seem to be leaning towards the sunshine and future – of celebration. The classic album also includes two “new” songs (“Suburban Speedball” and “Out Here”), long-cherished live staples from the early aughts that finally received their proper studio due.

“It’s been really great to hear these songs, remixed and remastered the way we always wanted to hear it! On vinyl!,” Perry said. “Getting to revisit the old tunes from that era and finally record them with [current second drummer] Darren (Stanley) has been a real treat as well!”

The Sweet Oblivious Antidote (20th Anniversary Edition) was produced by Mark Michaelson remixed by Jason Kingsland (Belle & Sebastian, Band of Horses) and remastered by Ed Brooks (Death Cab For Cutie, Brandi Carlile). The staying power of Sweet Oblivious Antidote, which begins with the band’s most well-known track “Three Weeks,” is evidenced by over 22 million Spotify song streams and the band’s continued ability to sell out shows across North America. In short, PGroove fans still love Sweet Oblivious Antidote, and that affection will only grow with this new sonically improved rendering.

“Not limited to ‘Three Weeks’ alone, a lot of the lyrics on Sweet Oblivious Antidote can feel like a time capsule where I left a letter to my future self,” Butler explained. “Some things seem silly put through the lens with 20+ years of life experience. Some feelings are so different from how I see the world today, it’s almost like a different person altogether.”
