Perpetual Groove Shares New Single ‘Paper Dolls’

Perpetual Groove, like many jam acts, are best known for their live shows, but they also had a knack for capturing their sound in the studio on such impressive full-length albums as 2007’s LIVELOVEDIE and 2004’s All This Everything. Over the last few years that Perpetual Groove was together they focused on live shows as the band hadn’t unveiled any new studio work since a 2010 EP. However, the recently reunited quartet entered the studio earlier this year to record a number of tracks and have premiered the first tune to come from the sessions – “Paper Dolls.”
The collaborative “Paper Dolls” was debuted not long before the band parted ways in early 2013, so the breakup prevented them from recording a studio version of the tune until this year. “Paper Dolls” features subtle layers of electronic sounds provided by Matt McDonald, a sturdy beat propelled by Albert Suttle, Adam Perry’s thumping bass line and Brock Butler’s signature vocals and guitar work. Clocking in just over four minutes, the studio version captures the energy and emotion PGroove infuses into live takes on “Paper Dolls.”
