Paul McCartney Shares ‘Say Say Say’ Video Featuring Michael Jackson

In 1983 two music icons, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, collaborated on the single “Say Say Say” which hit the top of the charts and stayed there for six weeks. Today, McCartney has unveiled a new dance video created by Sia and Lady Gaga collaborator Ryan Heffington featuring a 2015 remix of “Say Say Say” that is included on the recently released re-issue of McCartney’s Pipes Of Peace.

The new mix of “Say Say Say” features previously unheard vocals from Macca and MJ as they swap positions from the original version. The original collaboration came together after Jackson called McCartney out of the blue. “He (Michael) rang me up, and I didn’t believe it was him, so I said ‘who’s this?’ He said ‘Michael’. ‘Are you sure… Michael who?!’. Anyway, we had a joke about that kind of thing, and he said, ‘yeah, I’d like to come over and write with you’, so I said great. So he came over to England and we just sat down. I thought, well, it’s not easy to just sit down with anyone you don’t know and just write, start songwriting because you’ve got to get the chemistry right. But I thought, it is Michael – you know, I’ll just try! If it doesn’t work, we’ll just throw it away …” Paul said.

The remix was put together after McCartney recalled there were unused vocals from the sessions. Mike “Spike” Stent remixed a recording McCartney and his engineer Steve Orchard put together along with an instrumental remix created by DJ John “Jellybean” Benitez. Watch the new video:
