Phoffman/Beck Quartet with Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys :: 4.6.17 :: Aggie Theatre :: Fort Collins, CO
While Greensky Bluegrass has spent most of 2017 thus far on tour, two members of the band used a rare break in touring to bring a side project on the road. Paul Hoffman and Anders Beck are in the middle of a run of Phoffman/Beck Quartet shows in Colorado. The pair are joined in the group by guitarist Billy Strings and bassist Samson Grisman. On Thursday night, the foursome played the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins.
Hoffman, Beck & Co. played two sets at the Aggie on Thursday. The band mixed Greensky Bluegrass originals with a diverse batch of covers. Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys opened for the quartet in Fort Collins. The group’s frontwoman Lindsay Lou sat-in with the Phoffman/Beck Quartet on “Islands In The Stream” and “Fixin’ To Ruin” within their second set. Another highlight of the night came later in the second set, when the foursome fit covers of “Makisupa Policeman” by Phish and Bob Dylan’s “Señor” within Beck’s “Broke Mountain Breakdown.” The quartet brought the night to a close with an encore featuring “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” and “Born To Be Wild” > “Kerosene” > “Born To Be Wild.” Photographer Jeremy Williams shared a full gallery of images:
