Patti Smith Plots ‘Horses’ 50th Anniversary World Tour

The punk poet laureate will perform her landmark debut album in full across Europe and North America.

Patti Smith will embark on a world tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album Horses this fall. The punk poet laureate will perform the landmark 1975 LP in full at each stop of the trek, which includes October dates in Europe and North American dates in November.

Smith’s touring band features original Horses contributors Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daugherty on guitar and drums respectively. The lineup also includes longtime collaborator Tony Shanahan on keyboards and bass, along with guitarist Jackson Smith.

The celebratory tour launches with European dates starting at Dublin’s 3Arena on October 6. Smith then visits Madrid on October 8 and Bergamo on October 10. Two-night stands follow at London’s The Palladium on October 12 and 13, and Brussels’ Cirque Royale on October 15 and 16. After a performance in Oslo on October 18, the European leg concludes with shows at Paris’ The Olympia on October 20 and 21.

The North American portion kicks off at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on November 10. California shows follow in Oakland on November 12, San Francisco on November 13 and Los Angeles on November 15. Smith then heads to Chicago on November 17 before a two-night stand at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on November 21 and 22. The tour wraps with performances in Boston on November 24, Washington D.C. on November 28 and Philadelphia on November 29.

The upcoming tour marks 20 years since Smith first performed Horses in its entirety during London’s Meltdown Festival in 2005. A press release noted, “Please join us to help celebrate the final ride of our irreverent thoroughbred.”
