Supergroup Orcutt Shelley Miller shared a new single, “Four-Door Charger.” The track is the second preview of the trio’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, arriving September 5 via Silver Current Records.

The trio of renowned experimental musicians — Bill Orcutt (Harry Pussy), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) and Ethan Miller (Howlin Rain) — announced Orcutt Shelley Miller in June and shared the single “A Star Is Born.”

Press materials described the newly minted avant-rock trio:

Following in the footsteps of the high-firing free jazz and European outer-rock bands of the ’60s and ’70s and the Pacific Rim’s subterranean reimagining of “rock” form in the ’90s, Orcutt Shelley Miller utilize explosive group chemistry, focused intention and chance to pursue the creation of song in its rawest, purest form.

Orcutt Shelley Miller’s latest single, “Four-Door Charger,” is a nearly nine-minute romp draped with crunchy metallic guitar, groovy psychedelic bass and finessed powerhouse drumming.

“Easily the most tranced-out track of the album, ‘Four-Door Charger’ passes through kraut-funk on the way to a solid Klaus Dinger-meets-Lothar Meid churn via late ’80s Sonic Youth,” as per the press release.
