Chicago-based rock band Wilco is celebrating their 20th anniversary with a lengthy tour that kicked off last night in Dallas, Texas. Frontman Jeff Tweedy, bassist John Stirratt, drummer Glenn Kotche, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, guitarist Nels Cline and keyboardist Mikael Jorgensen opened their tour with an over 30 song performance at McFarlin Auditorium.

The sold-out show opened with “Company In My Back” off the band’s 2004 LP A Ghost Is Born before moving on to only the third live performance of “Panthers” which debuted last December during the band’s Riviera Theatre run in their hometown. After well worn “Poor Places” the band played “Art of Almost” and “I Might” from their latest album, 2011’s The Whole Love

The rest of the set saw the band mix staples like “She a Jar,” “Jesus, Etc.” and “Camera” with a couple of songs from the Mermaid Ave. sessions with Billy Bragg, “Secret of the Sea” and “Airline to Heaven.” The main set ended with “The Late Greats” before the first encore of “Walken” and “I’m The Man Who Loves You.” The second encore saw the band work up “Give Back The Key To My Heart” by late Texan Doug Sahm and Bill Fay’s “Be Not So Fearful” before closing out the show with a take on their own “Misunderstood.”
