Opening Night | Dean Ween Group – Ween Minus In Charlotte
By Scott Bernstein Mar 20, 2015 • 6:50 am PDT

Four-fifths of Ween -Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman is not participating in the run – were joined by guitarist Scott Rednor of Vail based trio Brothers Keeper. The big question coming in was who would sing these classic Ween songs and as expected Deaner did most of the heavy lifting on that front. According to fan reports, Coleman sang “Put The Coke On My Dick” and “The Final Alarm” while Dreiwitz led the group through “It’s Gonna Be A Long Night.” McClelland had his turn on vocals for “Transdermal Celebration.”
When the run was announced, Deaner said “We’ll probably play over 100 tunes over the 3 day run.” The band may fall short in the end, but is on its way after last night’s show as they dug deep into the Ween repertoire for the 24-song main set and a “Roses Are Free” encore. The main set did include one new song, “Garry,” from The Dean Ween Group catalogue, but besides that the setlist spanned Ween’s lengthy career.
