Olivia Rodrigo headlined Saturday’s Governors Ball lineup in Queens, New York. The performance at Flushing Meadows Corona Park featured a surprise appearance by David Byrne, who joined Rodrigo for the Talking Heads’ favorite “Burning Down The House.”
Byrne emerged near the end of Rodrigo’s main set wearing red overalls and playing a matching red acoustic guitar. Byrne and Rodrigo proceeded to trade off singing verses of “Burning Down The House,” which was released on Talking Heads’ 1983 album, Speaking In Tongues. The collaboration also saw Byrne put down his guitar to engage in a loosely choreographed dance with Rodrigo.
Byrne and his Talking Heads bandmates celebrated the 50th anniversary of their live debut by releasing the first music video for their classic song “Psycho Killer.” Saoirse Ronan starred in the video directed by filmmaker Mike Mills.
Next up for Rodrigo is a headlining performance this weekend at Bonnaroo. Watch David Byrne and Olivia Rodrigo link up for “Burning Down The House” at Gov Ball below:
