The final album recorded by late legendary rock musician Gregg Allman, Southern Blood, was officially issued today. A video for the album track “I Love the Life I Live” has also been released.
The 10-track Southern Blood was recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama at the renowned FAME Studios with producer Don Was and and Gregg’s manager and friend Michael Lehman. Featuring the Gregg Allman Band led by guitarist Scott Sharrard, the “salutary farewell to [Allman’s] legion of devoted fans and admirers” includes covers of songs written by the likes of Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter, Lowell George, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Tim Buckley and others.
Willie Dixon’s classic “I Love The Life I Live” was also among the songs selected for Southern Blood. The video for the track combines clips shot in Muscle Shoals with performance footage from throughout Gregg’s career including never-before-seen film of the original Allman Brothers Band lineup.
