O.A.R. kicked off their six-week summer tour with Fitz and The Tantrums and DJ Logic last night in Raleigh, North Carolina. The penultimate song of the night saw the headliners joined at Red Hat Amphitheater by Fitz & The Tantrums’ vocalists Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs on a debut cover of the Tears For Fears classic “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.”

The O.A.R. performance was delayed and shortened due to severe weather. Red Hat Amphitheater was evacuated for approximately 40 minutes after DJ Logic and Fitz & The Tantrums took the stage.

O.A.R. turned in a career-spanning set in Raleigh. The 15-song frame featured originals along with the “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” collaboration and a cover of the Grateful Dead‘s “St. Stephen.” The latter was used to preface the oldie “Hey Girl.”

Fitz came out late in the set after an introduction from O.A.R. vocalist Marc Roberge. Michael Fitzpatrick belted out the first verse of Tears For Fears’ 1985 hit before Fitz and Roberge teamed to sing the chorus. “Noelle, where are you?” Roberge said and then Scaggs emerged to handle the second verse and chorus. Marc Roberge guided the bridge and all three singers united at the end of the song.
