Noeline Hofmann Mines A Month Of Heartache With ‘August’ Single
The song arrived ahead of her upcoming debut EP, Purple Gas.

Noeline Hofmann stirs up feelings of heartbreak and tragedy with her new single, “August.” The song will appear on the Canadian singer-songwriter’s debut EP, Purple Gas.
La Honda Records will issue Purple Gas on October 4. The seven-song effort was produced by Patrick Lyons.

The EP’s title track, “Purple Gas,” was recorded by Zach Bryan and released on his 2024 album, The Great American Bar Scene. Hofmann featured on the track, which is also included on her pending EP.
Revealing inspiration for “August,” Hofmann stated:
“I wrote this song after experiencing heartbreak and tragedy year after year within the month of August. The hardest losses to cope with were fatal farming accidents. Where I’m from, the month of August means the end of the growing season, the beginning of harvest, and preparation for the impending winter – pulling bulls, and hauling bales. The song comes from the experience of dealing with grief and its annual ghosts in an isolated setting. The unsettling feeling of being on the verge of an unwelcome transition but with no tangible sign of it looming – bracing within the stillness of August’s weather.”
The 21-year-old Hofmann will make her Grand Ole Opry debut on Saturday, September 21. Stream the single, “August,” below:
