Widespread Panic kicked off their Halloween run with the first of two shows at US Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina on Friday night. The sold-out performance saw the band once again joined by frequent collaborator Nicky Sanders of Steep Canyon Rangers who sat-in for a bulk of the two-set performance.

WSP opened the evening with the familiar “Send Your Mind” and after working their way through a handful of other Panic staples, Sanders emerged to add his fiddle to to “Shut Up And Drive.” Sanders stuck around for the rest of the set, sitting-in on the closing run of “Greta” > “Tickle The Truth” > “Goin’ Out West.”

Widespread Panic opened the second half of the show with Sanders helping out on “ Steven’s Cat” from their recently issued Street Dogs LP. Sanders also provide fiddle accompaniment to “Aunt Avis” and two more Street Dogs tracks in the pairing of  “Cease Fire” > “Jamais Vu  (The World Has Changed.” The guest left the stage to Panic for the middle portion of the second set which featured back-to-back Halloween weekend appropriate selections in the form of “Me and the Devil Blues” and “Vampire Blues.” After Drums, Sanders came back to assist on “Contentment Blues” and the set ending “Blackout Blues” > “Porch Song.” Sanders’ night wasn’t over as he came back for the first two songs of a three-song encore.
