Singer-songwriter Nicki Bluhm is back with Avondale Drive, a new studio album due out on June 3 via Compass Records. The Nashville-based vocalist previewed the 10-track LP with single “Love To Spare” featuring A.J. Croce.
Recorded in East Nashville, the follow-up to 2018’s To Rise You Gotta Fall was produced by Jesse Noah Wilson. Nicki enlisted an impressive array of musicians to contribute to Avondale Drive including Croce, Karl Denson, Oliver Wood, James Pennebaker, Jay Bellerose, Jen Condos, Eric Slick and Erin Rae.
After finding success leading the Gramblers, Nicki Bluhm moved from her native California to Tennessee in 2017 to focus on her solo career. Bluhm started work on Avondale Drive in 2020 and the music on the album is informed by her personal experience gaining self-confidence. “This album is a lot about building trust back in myself. Finding my own inner compass and aligning it to my authentic self,” explained Bluhm. “When you go through a lot of trauma, divorce, estrangement… you learn that you don’t have to repeat the patterns of the past or continue to identify with the old story.”
“Love To Spare” was premiered by The Bluegrass Situation. Nicki wrote the track with A.J. Croce, who also contributed to the song. Stream the track below:
