Nickel Creek shared a new single, “Holding Pattern.” The song is set for the Grammy-winning trio’s first album in nine years, Celebrants, due out on March 24 via Thirty Tigers.
Nickel Creek announced Celebrants last month. The record sees Chris Thile, Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins exploring “love, friendship and time,” as per a press release, across the album’s 18 tracks. The trio previewed Celebrants with “Strangers” and now follow with “Holding Pattern.”
“The circular contrapuntal guitar figures are reminiscent of a holding pattern, a term often invoked during the early stages of the pandemic,” the band shared. “Here’s to true love keeping us airborne when it isn’t safe to land.”
