Newport Folk Festival Begins Rolling Out 2024 Lineup

The Newport Folk Festival began its rollout of artists on the 2024 lineup. The historic festival returns to Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island July 26 – 28.

The first round of Newport Folk artist announcements include Gillian Welch and David Rawlings. As part of the Newport Festivals Foundation Artist Gives program, the longtime collaborators selected Operation Encore as their beneficiary.

Operation Encore, “provides opportunities for veteran singer-songwriters to take their careers to the next level through artist development, professional recording, and industry-focused educational services,” as per a Newport Folk Festival social media post.

Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker will also deliver a set at Newport Folk 2024. For her Artist Give, Lenker asked that the Newport Festival Foundation award a grant to Brooklyn Music School, which “provides low-cost, high-quality music and performing arts education to the Brooklyn community.”

Formed just an hour-and-a-half from Newport, Boston’s own Guster will make the trip to Fort Adams State Park this July. Guster’s Artist Gives beneficiary is Middlebury Community Music Center, providing “affordable music education” to students in the Middlebury, Vermont area — the state half the four-piece calls home including frontman Ryan Miller.
