Today marks the start of the 2017 Newport Folk Festival in Newport, Rhode Island. If you can’t make it to Fort Adams State Park between now and Sunday, there’s a free option to stream from home or wherever you have an internet connection several of the sets taking place at the long-running event.
Newport Folk Festival will broadcast live from Fort Adams State Park beginning today, Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30. Presented by Tunein on the Newport Folk Radio station, today’s free stream includes performances by The Head And The Heart, Ben Gibbard, Shovels & Rope, Alone & Together, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Big Thief, Blind Pilot The Wild Reeds and Joshua Hedley. Saturday’s streaming schedule includes Wilco, Drive-By Truckers, Jim James, Joseph, Angel Olsen, Nikki Lane, Offa Rex, Mandolin Orange, Marlon Williams, Chicano Batman, Julia Jacklin and Mt. Joy.
The final day of Newport will showcase live streams of sets by John Prine, American Acoustic, Dr. Dog, John Paul White, Whitney, Margaret Glaspy, Pinegrove, Steelism with Ruby Amanfu & Nicole Atkins and Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
