New To YouTube: Grateful Dead 1976 Soundcheck

Last Thursday we profiled a New To YouTube video from 1968 that gave us a look at the Grateful Dead performing in New York City just a few years after the group formed. Today the same uploader, voodoonola, has shared another fantastic New To YouTube clip of the Dead playing NYC.

In the incredible, professionally-shot clip below we see a recently reunited Grateful Dead soundchecking “Not Fade Away” at the Beacon Theatre in New York City ahead of their June 14, 1976 visit to the venue. We get to see Jerry Garcia use his iconic Travis Bean TB500 guitar that Jimmy Herring took for a spin earlier this year at a Widespread Panic soundcheck.
