New Mastersounds Cover Stones With Guests At Panic En La Playa

By Scott Bernstein Feb 3, 2016 12:56 pm PST

On Tuesday night The New Mastersounds closed out the first day of Widespread Panic’s Panic En La Playa destination festival at the Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico with a late night set. As reported, the band was joined by a handful of special guests as guitarist Eric Krasno replaced the injured Eddie Roberts for a set that featured sit-ins from vocalist Jennifer Hartswick and Widespread Panic guitarist Jimmy Herring.

Hartswick led The New Mastersounds as well as Krasno, Herring and saxophonist Daniel Casares for a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter.” Jennifer had previously sung the song last month at a benefit in Boston with Jake Peavy, Jackie Greene and others. Taper Z-Man taped last night’s New Mastersounds’ set and has shared it on bt.etree.org.
