For those looking for a different kind of live music experience comes the launch of the first-ever Bear Music Fest. Set three hours away from the Bay Area at 5,600 feet above sea level, the inaugural Bear Music Fest is an all-inclusive weekend featuring meals, lodging and all events including performances from 13 different bands. Lair Of The Golden Bear in Pinecrest, California will host BMF on September 9 – 11.
Bay Area favorites The Mother Hips will perform at Bear Music Fest as will Q Brothers, The Main Squeeze, Bayonics, Caleb Hawley, Eugene Marie, Radio Nowhere, Kevin So, Risa Binder, Menna, Tornado Rider, Eric Stuart Band and Middlesleep. The festival is open to those of all ages with supervised activities in store for children.
When Lair Of The Golden Bear isn’t hosting the music festival it is a summer camp. Festivalgoers can take advantage of the site’s swimming pools, ping pong tables, dining halls, lodges, trails and campfire pits. Performances happen throughout the camp which also serves as festivalgoers’ home all weekend long.
“The concept behind the festival,” said Executive Producer Kevin Merritt in a press release, “is to create an intimate and immersive musical experience in nature which fosters deep connections both to the music and to the musicians themselves. By only offering weekend passes (no day passes) both the attendees and the artists are committed to this temporary community built on a common love and appreciation for the diversity of live music.” Merritt states that the Bear Music Fest is all about maximizing the experience. “Our goal is to combine the nostalgia of summer camp and the intimacy of a friend’s house party with a professionally produced music festival in a natural setting.”
