Legendary musician Neil Young recently made his return to performing in concert with appearances at the Light Up The Blues benefit and Willie Nelson's 90th birthday celebration. Young wrote about his enjoyment of the experiences on his official website and noted the performances made his want to “play more.”
“It felt so good to be up there after 3 and a half years,” wrote Young who added, “Maybe July.” If Young was to gather Crazy Horse in July it would be without guitarist Nils Lofgren. Lofgren will be on the road with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Europe for the duration of the month. Lukas Nelson + POTR‘s July schedule is currently clear if Young was to go that route.

Neil Young has come far in the past year as in July 2022 he stated he was “not ready” to perform and pulled out of Farm Aid. “I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic,” Young noted as the reason for his avoiding live performances.
Young posted his note about performing with Stephen Stills on NeilYoungArchives.com this past Saturday, May 6. The previous day he responded to a letter from a fan regarding his return to the road. “I am looking for outdoor venues,” Neil Young wrote in the “Letters To The Editor” section on his webste. “Safety for all.”
Stay tuned to see if Young winds up confirming concerts of his own. It will also be interesting to see how he deals with ticketing after declaring “Concert Touring Is Broken” in a post taking aim at Ticketmaster.

Hi folks! Well, last week was really cool – playing with Steve and Willie. We have recordings and video of the Light up the Blues’ Benefit show and rehearsal which we can share with you here soon. It was of course great to be playing with Stephen again. His voice and instrumental chops were the greatest. What a pleasure! Springfield again!
Seeing you all enjoying this show was amazing. The Willie birthday bash was a great gift for all, including Willie and family, Stephen, Kristen, Darryl and I. We are all eternally grateful for your love of the music!
….Made me want to play more. It felt so good to be up there after 3 and a half years…. Maybe July.
