The great Neil Young will embark on his first tour since 2019 this summer. Neil Young’s solo Coastal Tour currently spans July 1 – 23 with all tour dates on the West Coast. More dates will follow.
As reported, Neil Young will focus on deep cuts, including songs he’s never played live previously, at each show. “I don’t want to come back and do the same songs again,” Young told fans on a Zoom call with Patron level Neil Young Archives subscribers on Wednesday. “I’ll feel like I was on some sort of carnival ride. I’d rather be doing these others songs I haven’t done…I won’t have to compare how I’m doing ‘Heart of Gold’ to [how I played it in] 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020…”
The tour begins with a four-show residency at Los Angeles’ John Anson Ford on July 1, 2, 4 and 5. Young then hits the California cities of Santa Barbara on July 7, Paso Robles on July 8, San Diego on July 11, Los Angeles (The Greek Theatre) on July 13 and Berkeley on July 15.
Young’s Coastal Tour continues in Bend, Oregon on July 17. He then heads to Washington for shows in Ridgefield on July 18 and Auburn on July 19. The tour is currently set to conclude in Napa, California on July 23. Yet, as mentioned, more dates are expected.
Tickets for Neil Young’s upcoming tour dates go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. local time after a series of presales. Young will employ Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange at venues ticketed by the company in an effort to keep tickets in the hands of fans and away from resellers.

Neil Young decided to work with Ticketmaster despite taking aim at the company in a letter titled “Concert Touring Is Broken” posted to Neil Young Archives in March. The legendary artist explained why Face Value Exchange is right for him in an article published on Neil Young Archives on Thursday.
Young received advice from Ticketmaster about the program. “Face Value Exchange is absolutely the right call for Neil,” the Ticketmaster employee told Neil. “This is the most restrictive technology we have the most effective platform industry-wide for stopping scalping. Due to the priority around Neil, we are putting extra precautions in-place and are in the process of notifying major secondary market platforms that we will be restricting transfer altogther. In the past, they have reacted by pulling down / preventing listings on their sites altogether.”
If a fan purchases a ticket and their plans change, they can re-sell the ticket(s) exclusively on Ticketmaster for the exact price paid. “This is the best thing we have found to try to protect you all from the high prices in concerts today, caused by scalper’s secondary sales,” added Neil Young.
