Neil Young, Joan Baez, Maggie Rogers and more performed at the “Fighting Oligarchy” rally over the weekend. The event led by Congress members Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took place at Gloria Molina Grand Park in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Bernie Sanders noted in a social media post that the gathering was, “our biggest rally ever.”
“36,000 people came out today to say NO to Trumpism, NO to oligarchy, NO to authoritarianism, and NO to a rigged economy,” the senator from Vermont wrote.

Sanders and AOC have been touring the country on their “Fight Oligarchy” campaign, having already hit Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado.
Musical performers at the rally in Los Angeles included Jeff Rosenstock, Dirty Projectors, Indigo De Souza and The Red Pears and Raise Gospel Choir. Legendary folk singer and activist Joan Baez performed John Lennon’s “Imagine” and teamed with Maggie Rogers to cover Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.”
Neil Young took the stage to perform just ahead of speeches from AOC and Sanders. Young led a “Take America Back” chant and also played “Rainbow Of Colors,” from his 2019 album Colorado. Neil then delivered his 1989 anthem “Rockin’ in the Free World,” with Baez and Rogers joining him.
