Neil Young’s longtime band Crazy Horse is set to join him at The Roxy in Los Angeles to celebrate the legendary Sunset Strip venue’s 50th anniversary. The Neil Young & Crazy Horse concerts, their first in four years, are set to take place September 20 and 21 benefiting The Painted Turtle and Young’s Bridge School.
September 20 marks 50 years to the day that Neil Young opened the Roxy with a three-show engagement featuring the Santa Monica Flyers which included Crazy Horse members drummer Ralph Molina, bassist Billy Talbot and multi-instrumentalist Nils Lofgren along with steel guitar master Ben Keith.

In late September 1973, the band had just finished cutting Tonight’s The Night in Hollywood, and the Roxy performances — captured for posterity and released as the 2018 live album, Roxy: Tonight’s the Night Live — are largely made up of material from Neil’s sixth studio album.
While a performance from Young celebrating “Roxy50” was initially announced in July, the addition of Crazy Horse is a new development as is a second night. Nils Lofgren is scheduled to perform with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on September 21 so it’s unclear who will take his spot in performing with Young, Talbot and Molina. Also set to help Roxy owner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Lou Adler celebrate “Roxy50” are Wallows (September 23) and Stephen Marley who will deliver an “Old Soul / Tribute To Bob Marley Live At The Roxy ‘76” on September 24.
Additionally, Adler is set to curate a Live At The Roxy compilation album boasting recordings from legendary artists made at The Roxy including Young, Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, The Ramones, Nicolette Larson, George Benson, Warren Zevon, Brian Wilson and more. The live album will be available to listen to at The Grammy Museum’s upcoming The Roxy: 50 and Still Rockin’ exhibit and available for purchase to benefit MusiCares.
Young, Molina, Talbot and Lofgren have released three brand new albums since 2019. World Record arrived late last year following Colorado in 2019 and Barn in 2021. Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s last public performances were held in Winnipeg, Canada on February 3 and 4, 2019.
Ticket information for Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s Roxy show will be available via TheRoxyTurns50.com. The Roxy shows are the only dates Neil — who just wrapped up his first tour since 2019 — has on the books to date along with his performance at Farm Aid.
