Neil Young & Crazy Horse will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their forthcoming Barn studio album with a documentary of the same name. The Barn movie will be screened at select theaters across North America between December 9 and 11 and will be available for on-demand viewing via AARP Members Only Access site from December 10 until January 10.
Directed by Daryl Hannah, the documentary can be purchased as a stand-alone Blu-Ray and will be issued as part of a deluxe edition of the Barn album. The LP, due out next Friday, December 10 via Reprise Records, features 10 new songs recorded by the legendary band in the Colorado mountains.
Neil Young is joined on Barn by the current Crazy Horse lineup of drummer Ralph Molina, guitarist Nils Lofgren and bassist Billy Talbot. The musicians tracked the follow-up to 2019’s Colorado in an exact replica of an 1980s barn that is located where the original it was modeled after stood. Young and Niko Bolas (aka The Volume Dealers) produced and mixed the Barn album.
“BARN captures this legendary band in their element, in the wild, as they make music in a restored 19th century log barn under the full moon,” noted Hannah. “Neil and the horse are a 50-year-old musical family and BARN catches a rare intimate glimpse of their easy humor, their brotherhood, and of course their music, created live, in their own unique spontaneous way.”
