Neil Young Confirms Upcoming Archival Releases
Legendary musician Neil Young announced the release dates for three upcoming archival projects via a note on Neil Young Archives. Young revealed Neil Young Archives Volume 2 is coming on November 6, the same date Return To Greendale is due and also stated Way Down In The Rust Bucket is due on December 6.
Neil Young Archives Volume 2 box set is expected to include a slew of previously unreleased material spanning 1972 – 1976 in similar fashion to 2009’s Neil Young Archives Volume 1, which contained unheard live and studio recordings from 1963 – 1972. “Pre-orders will be announced soon,” Young stated about the long-awaited box set. “All the NYA Volume 2 info will be coming [to NeilYoungArchives.com] very soon.”
Young previously announced Way Down In The Rust Bucket is a Neil Young & Crazy Horse concert film/live album recorded on November 13, 1990 at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, California. Subcribers to Neil’s site can view “Mansion On The Hill” from the set here.
Meanwhile, Return To Greendale captures a Neil Young & Crazy Horse 2003 Greendale tour stop in Toronto. The film premiered earlier this year at the Balboa Theater in San Francisco. The note also included word Young and his team are working on a project entitled The Timeless Orpheum, which he described as “a concert film with a lot of twists and turns, telling my story and yours, our history together.” The film is expected to premiere via Neil Young Archives’ Hearse Theater for subscribers.
