Neil Young Announces Archives Membership
By Andy Kahn May 14, 2018 • 10:12 am PDT
Neil Young has announced he will soon offer a membership to his recently established Neil Young Archives website. Those that purchase an NYA membership will be granted access to exclusive archival content.
Young revealed the membership through a post on Facebook. The membership will be available beginning June 1 at a price of $19.99 per year, or $1.99 per month. Young stated, “parts of NYA will remain free,” while other aspects, such as access to the “best seats in the house” for Young’s upcoming run of solo shows will be available exclusively to NYA members first. Young’s note also appeared to hint that he would be leaving Facebook in favor of communicating exclusively through the NYA website.
Describing the NYA website, Young wrote:
I am here now, reaching out to you, but I won’t be here for long, I’ll be there at NYA with my music, new and old. I’ll be on the Timeline. Every day, I will be choosing the song of the day. I will be there writing, ruminating and rambling. We have a newspaper (The Times-Contrarian) full of updates, projects and upcoming events related to my music.
If you want to hear my music and would like to have the option to listen to it with all the depth and glory of high resolution, it will be there. All my new records can be heard there first, before they get released anywhere else. New unreleased albums from the archives, old unreleased albums from the archives. Will always be heard there first.

Future “surprise live streams from our Hearse Theatre,” the history of songs in Young’s massive catalog and other historical information housed at NYA was also detailed by Young. The message from Young ends with a mention that a mobile option for the Neil Young Archives website is planned to launch this fall.
