Sad and unexpected news out of the Neil Young camp this afternoon, as Young and Crazy Horse have canceled the remainder of their European Tour.

Here’s the statement from Young’s website:

Due to an accident involving Crazy Horse, the remaining dates on the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour of Europe and the British isles have been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the Festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events.

Young and his band were expected to play a mix of headlining dates and festival appearances between tonight and August 19. Hopefully the group’s North American dates aren’t in jeopardy.

UPDATE: According to Rolling Stone, guitarist Frank “Poncho” Sampedro broke his hand leading to the cancellations.
