Neighbor Shares Enthralling New Single ‘Don’t You Cry’

Over four years after forming and developing a devoted and ever-growing legion of fans, Neighbor will finally release their self-titled debut studio album one week from today on Friday, June 2 through Ineffable Records. Out now is “Don’t You Cry,” the fourth preview of the 12-track Neighbor record from the Boston-based quartet.

Neighbor co-produced the eponymous LP with Matt Wayne. The band chose 12 originals showing off the diversity of their catalog to record last year during home-state sessions held at Boston’s Dimension Sound and Ghost Hit Recording in Springfield. Neighbor cuts “Take Me Alive,” “Lonely Rider” and “Isla” have been shared previously.

The band consisting of keyboardist Richard James, bassist Dan Kelly, drummer Dean Johnston and guitarist Lyle Brewer unveiled “Don’t You Cry” live on January 7, 2020 at Thunder Road in Somerville, Massachusetts. Thunder Road, which has since shuttered, hosted a Neighbor residency for the first year of the band’s existence. “Don’t You Cry” was the encore for Neighbor’s final show at the venue on March 10, 2020 just before the pandemic brought a pause to live music and eventually led to Thunder Road closing its doors.

Neighbor performed a musical called “Don’t You Cry”, the story of Joe and Katherine, and debuted it on 6/25/20 which was the first drive in show back from Covid. Music and Lyrics written by Richard James, arranged by Neighbor… this song is an important piece of the neighbor pie, and we’re proud to share our first ever studio version of it with you [today].”
