Neal Francis released a new single, “Don’t Want You To Know.” The emotionally charged track is set to land on the singer-songwriter-pianist’s forthcoming EP, Sentimental Garbage, which arrives on November 18 via ATO Records.
Sentimental Garbage was the working title for Neal’s 2021 album, In Plain Sight, as well as a track on the LP. “I knew this was my last chance to slap Sentimental Garbage on a record jacket, the thought of which always brought me great joy,” Francis said of the upcoming EP. The pianist heralded Sentimental Garbage in September and shared a double single, “Very Fine, Pts. 1 & 2” and a cover of the Shuggie Otis classic “Strawberry Letter 23.”

Neal now follows with “Don’t Want You To Know” from the EP. “This was another artifact of a bad breakup,” Francis noted. “This one occurred back in 2014. It’s about living a double life and paying the consequences. This is one of the first tunes I demoed out for the Neal Francis project with Mike Novak in 2016 when I was recently sober.”
The new tune features a heavy funk-rock guitar riff laced with synthesizer and underpinned with Neal’s signature piano. Listen to “Don’t Want You To Know” below:
