Nathaniel Rateliff recorded two songs penned by legendary singer-songwriter John Prine for the newly released first installment of Stax Records’ The Marigold Singles. Rateliff is joined by Prine for one of the songs and the other features Courtney Marie Andrews. Proceeds from the tunes go towards the Sierra Club Foundation’s Military Outdoors Program and Harm Reduction Coalition via The Marigold Project, Nathaniel’s foundation “that supports community and nonprofit organizations working on economic and social justice.”

On “Sam Stone,” Nathaniel Rateliff duets with Prine, who wrote the song for inclusion on his self-titled 1971 debut album. Then, Rateliff pairs with Courtney Marie Andrews on “Summer’s End,” a tune from Prine’s most recent LP, The Tree Of Forgiveness. “It’s been an honor to get to know John and become his buddy,” explained Rateliff in a statement. “I love singing with him. He’s one of the great songwriters of our time. Wonderful to have Courtney Marie Andrews join me on ‘Summer’s End’ as well.”
