Nathaniel Rateliff and Gregory Alan Isakov released a collaborative new single, “Flowers,” through Stax Records. The pair showed off the new song with a live performance on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live episode.

Rateliff initially demoed “Flowers” with Isakov while recording the former’s 2020 solo album, And It’s Still Alright. The longtime friends from the Denver/Boulder Colorado music scene recently revisited the song, which resulted in the completed “Flowers” single.

“In the moment, because so much time had passed, it was hard to remember who had written what – our words becoming each other’s,” Rateliff said. “Now, listening back, I remember lines Gregory offered and others I did, but it truly is a work of us together, as one.”

“My longtime friend Nathaniel Rateliff brought some pieces of a song by the farm a little while back and we finished it and tracked it late that night,” Isakov added. “We ran around the studio tracking instruments and ideas thinking we might re-track it all later, but just loved how the first take came out. Hope you love it as much as we do.”

Isakov will support Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats at their upcoming concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on March 27. Watch the pair of singer-songwriters perform their new song, “Flowers,” on Kimmel and stream the studio version of the track below:
