My Morning Jacket brought out fellow One Big Holiday performers Brittany Howard, Trampled by TurtlesDave Simonett and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The collaborative performance took place on night two of this year’s destination event at Moon Palace in Cancún, Mexico.

MMJ followed night’s one’s guest appearance by Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio by opening Thursday’s concert with “Lucky to Be Alive.” After a few songs came the emergence of Simonett, who added guitar and vocals to “Wonderful (The Way I Feel).” Later in the show, My Morning Jacket transitioned out of “Steam Engine” into the live debut of “I Never Could Get Enough,” from their self-titled 2021 album.

The main set ended with the assistance of Preservation Jazz Hall Band who accompanied MMJ on “Holdin On to Black Metal.” The New Orleans-based guests stuck around for the set-ending “Dancefloors.” Pres Hall came back out for the encore, which also saw Brittany Howard take the stage for a cover of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord.” The extra musicians stuck around for the subsequent take on Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me.” Following the covers, only the members of My Morning Jacket remained onstage for the show-closing “Phone Went West.”

My Morning Jacket will wrap this year’s OBH with a third and final performance on Saturday. Watch clips of last night’s sit-ins in Mexico below:
