My Chemical Romance kicked off a three-show run at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on Wednesday during their tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album The Black Parade. Along with a complete performance of their 2006 LP, the New Jersey rockers delivered a trio of rarities during night one at Wembley.
MCR — Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way and Frank Iero — kicked off the concert with a full The Black Parade performance including “Welcome to the Black Parade,” “Famous Last Words,” “Teenagers,” and “I Don’t Love You.” The band then decamped to a B-stage as touring cellist Clarice Jensen performed her song “From A To B” and MCR’s “Romance.”
Settled on the B-stage, the band broke out “Honey, This Mirror Isn’t Big Enough for the Two of Us.” The song originally appears on MCR’s 2002 debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. My Chemical Romance performed the cut for the first time since 2010 at Wembley.
MCR then rolled through a bevy of favorites: “Thank You for the Venom,” “Cemetery Drive,” “Planetary (GO!),” and “Give ‘Em Hell, Kid.” Next, the band nodded to Morrissey with a cover of his “Jack the Ripper,” which they hadn’t performed in 23 years. My Chemical Romance then delivered fan-favorite “DESTROYA” ahead of a trio of hits to seal the show: “I’m Not Okay (I Promise),” “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na),” and “Helena.”
