My Bloody Valentine Plays 1st Concert Since 2018

My Bloody Valentine performed their first public concert in seven years on Wednesday at a surprise warm-up show at National Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, where the shoegaze icons formed in 1983. The first MBV performance since 2018 included the live debut of “Off Your Face.”

My Bloody Valentine billed the recently announced concert as an “Isn’t Anything warm-up show.” Formed in Dublin in 1983, the band’s current lineup comprises co-founding members, guitarist Kevin Shields and drummer Colm Ó Cíosóig, along with longtime guitarist Bilinda Butcher and bassist Debbie Googe.

MBV’s debut album, Isn’t Anything, was released in 1988. Their influential follow-up Loveless came out in 1991. After many years of inactivity, the band reformed and released their third album, m b v, in 2013. Prior to last night’s concert, My Bloody Valentine’s last public performance was in October 2018.

“Off Your Face” appeared on My Bloody Valentine’s 1990 EP Glider. Wednesday’s warm-up concert setlist also pulled from MBV’s three albums and the EPs You Made Me Realise and Tremolo.

Scheduled nearly one year ago, My Bloody Valentine’s next concert is slated for Saturday, November 22 at Dublin’s 3Arena. More shows follow in 2025 and 2026 in Europe and Asia.
