Mumford & Sons presented “A Very Special Acoustic Evening” at the Belly Up in Aspen, Colorado on Sunday. The British band loaded the concert with Mumford favorites along with Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift and Simon & Garfunkel covers.
After wrapping up a trek through their native UK earlier this month, Mumford & Sons flipped stateside to headline the Wild Horses Festival in San Diego on Saturday. The group led by Marcus Mumford then headed to the Rocky Mountains for their final show of 2025 in the famed ski town of Aspen.
For the stripped-down concert at the 450 capacity Belly Up, Mumford & Sons dipped frequently from their 2009 debut album Sigh No More, including standouts from the record such as “Awake My Soul” and “White Blank Page” in the main set. The band also gathered around a single mic for Sigh No More’s “Timshel” as well as “Reminder” off their 2012 LP, Babel.
The main set also saw the band performing “Rubber Band Man,” set for their upcoming studio album Prizefighter, along with two covers: the Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Boxer” and Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire.” Check out a clip of the latter below:
After closing the set with Sigh No More hit, “Little Lion Man,” Mumford & Sons returned to deliver a four-song encore which included the band’s collaboration with Taylor Swift, “cowboy like me,” which Mumford & Sons contributed to for the pop star’s evermore album.
Marcus Mumford also led “Kansas City” from The New Basement Tapes. Mumford was part of the supergroup — which also featured Elvis Costello, Rhiannon Giddens, Taylor Goldsmith and Jim James — that released the 2014 T Bone Burnett-produced record Lost on the River: The New Basement Tapes. The Lost Basement Tapes created the album with Bob Dylan lyrics penned in 1967.
Mumford & Sons wrapped “A Very Special Acoustic Evening” in Aspen with Sigh No More sing-along, “I Will Wait.” Next up for the band is a trip to Cancún, Mexico for an appearance at Noah Kahan’s Out of the Blue Festival before returning to the UK.
