Last month we told you about an incredible version of “Divided Sky” by Phish that the Naugatuck High School Percussion Ensemble in Naugatuck, Connecticut was working on. The team recently engaged in competitive performances against teams from other high schools. Videographer mk devo has shared incredible, multi-camera footage of the youngsters’ final rehearsal of “Divided Sky” and it’s extremely impressive.

Trey Anastasio and the Phish organization gave NHS Percussion their full blessing to perform the song and Anastasio collaborator Don Hart helped Dave Dion with the compositional aspect of the piece. Instructors Dave Pelaggi, Donny Binette, Bob Wilcox, Erin McLaughlin and Jordan Tulley did a fantastic job with the students.

A note from mk devo accompanying the video details how much work went into the rendition, “The ensemble began learning the piece in January 2017. They typically rehearsed 2-3 times per week, anywhere between 3-7 hours, depending on the day. This recording was captured in the final week of their competitive season. They achieved a final score of 90.9 at the MAC Championships.” Congratulations to the NHS Percussion Ensemble for taking second place in their class.
