Mr. Bungle shared video featuring a cover of Van Halen‘s “Loss Of Control.” The track closes out The Night They Came Home, a live album and concert film that arrives via Ipecac Recordings on June 11 documenting the band’s Halloween 2020 livestream special.

The upcoming live album and concert film shows off the current Mr. Bungle lineup consisting of Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn, Trey Spruance, Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo. The quartet premiered the livestream special one day after the release of The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo, the first Mr. Bungle album since 1999.

The Night They Came Home was directed by Jack Bennett and is due out digitally, as a CD + Blu-Ray, CD + DVD and VHS. Mr. Bungle went heavy on songs from The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo and also fit in a handful of covers. Van Halen originally released “Loss Of Control” on their 1980 studio album, Women And Children First.

“Mr. Bungle tried to play this song in the ’90s and we scrapped it because we sucked at it…I think it worked this time for a lot of reasons,” noted Trey Spruance. “My own is that, thanks to the new Raging Wrath era, I’ve had to re-approach the guitar like I did when I was 13 and 14. It was all about Eddie Van Halen for me back then, so circling back at this moment felt really natural. Those riffs and lead parts at least are super fun! I’m just glad Scott took the palm-mute breaks. Jesus!”

The cover came less than a month after Eddie Van Halen’s tragic death. Check out Mr. Bungle’s “Loss Of Control” below:
