Sco-Mule Tour continued last night at Minneapolis’s State Theatre, where Gov’t Mule and guitarist John Scofield continue to unveil material new to the now seven-show-old collaborative run.

Gov’t Mule’s time on stage in the first set before Scofield joined in included a rendition of Howlin’ Wolf’s “How Many More Years” with an excursion into Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” in the middle. Scofield emerged for a cover of Rufus & Chaka Khan’s “Tell Me Something Good,” a jam on Miles Davis’ “Johnny Bratton” and Mule originals “Silent Scream Pt. 2” and “Kind Of Bird” to end the first set. The second set began with Mule and the guitarist collaborating on a reggae-tinged cover of Steve Miller Band’s “The Joker,” a tour debut. From there, the quintet delivered takes on “Jeep On 35,” “Flip Wilson” and “Hottentot” before Sco left Mule to end the set with “Thorazine Shuffle” without the guitarist. Warren Haynes and Co. brought the show to a close with a “30 Days In The Hole” encore.
