Molly Tuttle was featured on the latest episode of CBS Saturday Morning. The acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist was joined by her new band for a “Saturday Sessions” set and spoke with Anthony Mason.

Tuttle is gearing up for the release of So Long Little Miss Sunshine on August 15 via Nonesuch Records. The 12-track effort marks Molly’s fifth full-length album and follows a pair of Grammy-winning albums Tuttle released with her band Golden Highway.

Molly Tuttle was accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Ellen Angelico, guitarist-mandolinist Mary “Mair” Mulroney, bassist Vanessa McGowan and drummer Megan Jane for a performance of “That’s Gonna Leave A Mark,” the lead single from So Long Little Miss Sunshine. The Bay Area native also delivered a stripped-down version of “San Joaquin” off 2023’s City Of Gold with McGowan and Mulroney.

On her new album, Tuttle expands her range to include pop, country and rock. However, she told Mason she isn’t leaving bluegrass behind despite amicably parting ways with Golden Highway. “I want to set the record straight, I’m not abandoning the bluegrass fans,” she said.

“I feel like with my music it’s like a door will open and I’m just walking through it,” Tuttle explained. “With my last two records, I felt so inspired to go back to my roots and write bluegrass songs. And then all of the sudden in the last year, it was like it’s time to do something different, do something totally new and find my own sound that’s not emulating a certain genre or style.”

Molly Tuttle also discussed what she loves about bluegrass, her autoimmunne condition alopecia areata, appearing without a wig on the cover of her new album, her time as Billy Strings' roommate and more.

Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway will perform together for the last time at Colorado’s RockyGrass festival on July 25. Tuttle will then hit the road with her new band.
