The musical Monty Python’s Spamalot was the inspiration for moe's “Jamalot: A Quest For The Grail” show on Halloween at New Orleans’ Joy Theater. After opening the concert, The Infamous Stringdusters were brought back to partake in moe.’s elaborate production.
moe. guitarists Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey, bassist Rob Derhak, keyboardist Nate Wilson and drummer Vinnie Amico wore Knights of the Round Table costumes, while percussionist Jim Loughlin was the Tim the Enchanter character from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. moe.’s sound engineer Frank Hopkins dressed for the occasion and served as the narrator for the evening.
The Infamous Stringdusters portrayed The Monks from the film and appeared with moe. for a chant and Thelonious Monk’s “Blue Monk.” Various other elements of Monty Python and the Holy Grail were incorporated into the celebratory performance.
The encore saw moe. pull from Monty Python’s The Life Of Brian, punctuating the night with “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.”
The Joy Theater hosted a second moe. show on Saturday that again featured support from, and collaboration with, The Infamous Stringdusters.
With the impressive “Jamalot” production in NOLA behind them, moe. looked to the future with the announcement of their 2026 Born To Fly Tour.
