moe. Celebrates 4th Of July In ‘Calyphornya’

By Andy Kahn Jul 5, 2018 10:17 am PDT

moe. celebrated the 4th Of July Wednesday with the first of two concerts at the Belly Up in Solana Beach, California. The evening’s performance saw the band select a pair of songs to be played for the first time since early-2017.

A continuous sequence of “Stranger Than Fiction” > “Not Coming Down” > “Okayalright” began the first Independence Day set. The show progressed with “Deep This Time” before moe. gave a nod to their surroundings and played “Calyphornya” for the first time since January 2017. A roll through “Four” and the coupling of “George” and “Lazarus” brought an end to the first half.

The holiday performance resumed with “Captain America” that before finishing moved on to “Mexico.” The final 4th Of July set would end with a return to “Captain America” but not before the quintet worked through “ATL” and “Paper Dragon” > “Waiting For The Punchline” > “She.” The first offering of “The Ghost Of Ralph’s Mom” since April 2017 filled the encore position and closed out the night in California.
