MJ Lenderman delayed the first three dates of his upcoming fall tour in support of his excellent new album, Manning Fireworks. The trek will now begin on Sunday, October 6 with a concert in Knoxville, Tennessee.

“Due to the ongoing natural disaster and humanitarian crisis in Western North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Helene, where most of MJ Lenderman’s band and their families are based, we have no choice but to postpone the first few dates of the upcoming Manning Fireworks tour,” the Asheville-based singer-songwriter wrote on social media. MJ Lenderman was originally supposed to start the tour on Thursday with the first of two shows in Atlanta. Lenderman added that fans should “stay tuned for additional information regarding rescheduled shows” for both Atlanta dates and a concert initially slated for Saturday in Nashville.

MJ Lenderman’s social media posts also included a list of disaster relief mutual aid and organizations on the ground in Asheville and surrounding areas. He asked that those who want to help and are financially able to prioritize their donations to BeLoved Asheville, Asheville Survival and Pansy Collective.

Lenderman’s hometown of Asheville in Buncombe County was among areas in the Southeast left devasted by Hurricane Helene. The storm ripped through the region between Thursday and Sunday. The death toll recently topped 130, as per Vox, and continues to rise. Over 57 have died in Buncombe County alone according to the Asheville Citizen-Times.
