MJ Lenderman Joins Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. In Asheville
The guitarist joined Will Johnson and Jason Molina’s former bandmates at The Grey Eagle.

MJ Lenderman’s busy hometown weekend in Asheville, North Carolina, included sitting in with Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. at The Grey Eagle. Friday’s guest spot saw Lenderman playing guitar alongside Will Johnson and former bandmates of Jason Molina.
Singer-songwriter Jason Molina, who died in 2013 at age 39, recorded music as Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. Members of Magnolia Electric Co. and Johnson, who performs with Centro-matic and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, have been touring together as Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co., performing songs from Molina’s deep catalog.
Lenderman appeared at The Grey Eagle after appearing with his band The Wind at Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam Pre-Jam at the Orange Peel. Lenderman and the band then participated in Haynes’ Christmas Jam on Saturday at ExploreAsheville.com Arena.
Lenderman played Songs:Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. songs with the group at the start of the second set and returned for the encore as well. Watch footage of Lenderman joining Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. below:
