Founding Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers member and current Fleetwood Mac guitarist Mike Campbell unveiled a new song entitled “Lockdown.” The single comes accompanied by a video and in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic with all proceeds going towards Feeding America.
Mike Campbell recorded the different parts of the song himself but noted his band, The Dirty Knobs, were there “in spirit.” On September 18, Campbell & The Dirty Knobs will release their debut studio album, Wreckless Abandon, via BMG. The band hopes to tour in support of the LP this fall after taking part in Chris Stapleton’s All-American Road Show this summer.

See a note from Campbell about the track below:
Since we’re all keeping away from each other, I have been doing what I always do when I am home: writing and recording. I came up with ‘Lockdown’ for fun. Everyone around me (including my wife Marcie, who helped with the recording and shot the video footage) loved the song, so I’m putting it out for people to enjoy and to raise some money for Feeding America. It feels good to do something positive to help in this time of crisis
As the guitarist mentioned, the video was filmed by his wife Marcie and co-directed by Ryan Daniel Browne. “Lockdown” can be downloaded via The Dirty Knobs’ website with those who donate $15 or more receiving a limited edition Lockdown bandana. Watch the “Lockdown” video below:
