Mike Campbell’s The Dirty Knobs Announce Debut Album & Tour Dates

will release their debut album, Wreckless Abandon, through BMG on March 20. The band led by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers/Fleetwood Mac guitarist Mike Campbell will tour for the first time ever in support of the album that features the title track as its lead single.

Campbell co-produced the album with George Drakoulias. The Dirty Knobs are comprised of guitarist Jason Sinay, bassist Lance Morrison and drummer Matt Laug. Guests who contributed to the 13-track album include singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton and The Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench. The album artwork was made by noted artist Klaus Voormann.

“The Dirty Knobs first got together almost 15 years ago but Wreckless Abandon is our first album and occasion to tour,” Campbell stated. “Over the years The Knobs became an outlet for me to play some of the other songs I was writing and to keep the creative juices flowing in between working on albums and tours with Tom and The Heartbreakers.”

Occasional The Dirty Knobs concerts have been held in Los Angeles and Southern California. The project took on a new focus for Campbell following Tom Petty’s death in 2017.

“Losing Tom was earth-shattering for me. It was a total shock,” Campbell said. “It had felt like we would be playing together forever. For a while it was hard to imagine playing in my own band again, let alone one where I’m the frontman. Tom was always my beacon. But everything I’ve been doing since Tom passed, including this album with The Dirty Knobs, is in the spirit of honoring what we did together.”

The Dirty Knobs’ first tour will see the band performing in March and April in a number of cities including Chicago, Nashville, Philadelphia, Boston, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Gainesville, Florida, among others.
