Midnight North Announces Live Album ‘Selections From The Great American Music Hall’

Midnight North will soon issue a guest-filled live album entitled Selections From The Great American Music Hall. As the name implies, the release was culled from the Bay Area-based band’s hometown performance in San Francisco on November 3, 2017 at Great American Music Hall featuring members of the Grateful Dead, Twiddle and a horn section.

Midnight North chose eight songs from the concert for inclusion on Selections From The Great American Music Hall. Band originals “Everyday” and “Playing A Poor Hand Well” open the release and are boosted by the Northbound Horns made up of Michael Bello, Jay Jordan and Elizabeth Larsen. The live set continues with Twiddle’s Mihali Savoulidis and Ryan Dempsey leading their “Lost In The Cold” with the aid of the horn section. The same group of guests also appear together on “Miss M.”

Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir joined Midnight North on a rendition of “Only A River” from his solo album Blue Mountain that’s on the live release as is Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh joining Bobby and the band on the Dead’s “The Music Never Stopped.” Phil is also featured alongside Savoulidis, Dempsey and the horns on “Under The Lights,” while the Twiddle members contributed to a cover of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery.”

Selections From The Great American Music Hall will be released digitally on Friday, August 10. Exclusive early-bird CD editions of the live album will be available at Midnight North shows starting this Friday, July 20. Stream “Miss M” below:
