Mickey Hart To Perform With Zakir Hussain At SFJAZZ

Appearances from Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart have been few and far between this year, so we’re happy to see Hart will return to the stage on October 12 at SFJazz Center in San Francisco as a guest for Zakir Hussain’s tribute to the late Latin percussion legend Armando Peraza.

Hussain, who’s SFJazz’s Resident Artistic Director, has put together a tribute to the Cuban-born Peraza that will feature a host of great Bay Area artists including longtime collaborator Mickey Hart, composer and percussionist John Santos and more. Over his diverse career, Peraza contributed his virtuosity to work with a list of jazz giants including Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, Charles Mingus, George Shearing and Dexter Gordon. Peraza sadly passed away back in April.

Tickets for the show are on sale now via the venue’s website.
