Michael Kiwanuka has been forced to cancel his entire North American Tour. The British singer-songwriter was instructed by doctors to cancel or face permanent vocal damage.
According to the initial announcement, Kiwanuka was diagnosed with tonsillitis and vocal damage. In a subsequent handwritten message from Kiwanuka, he revealed:
My voice is burned out and can’t cope with demands of travelling and touring takes. It’s so frustrating but my voice just isn’t’ up to it. Pushing through will cause me long term vocal damage and I have way too many things to say and music to make to risk damaging it for good.
The tour was supposed to begin last night at Webster Hall in New York City. Those who purchased ticket to the tour in support of Kiwanuka’s recently issued LP Love & Hate can seek refunds at the point of purchase.
